What battery pack products are available?

Lithium-ion

Lithium thionyl chloride

If you need low currents over a long period of time, then a lithium thionyl chloride battery pack is ideal. These are typically used in industrial settings, such as the aerospace and automobile industries, and can supply power for more than several months due to their high energy density.

These batteries can achieve a voltage range up to 3.6V and have a low self-discharge rate. Perhaps the defining characteristic of this type of power pack is that it can be used over an extremely wide temperature range - as low as -55C and as high as +85C.

Alkaline

Made from a combination of zinc and manganese dioxide, alkaline battery power packs are the most commonly available with well-known brands such as Energizer and Duracell. They are generally easy to handle and are suitable for powering low-energy equipment.

These batteries have many benefits including a low self-discharge rate, a long shelf life of up to 10 years, and are inexpensive. The cells are 1.5V but they have poor energy density compared to other battery packs.
